Major Universities should not use the honor code because it is ineffective, instead they should find another way to keep students from cheating during college courses.

I choose the article “A Classroom Where No One Cheats” for my second annotated article. The two view points of the author are students are bad because they cheat, and its the professors fault due to his/her teaching methods. The two stakeholders addressed in this article are the students, and the teachers. At one point a teacher mentions how he cant blame the students for cheating, that its due to his methods of teaching, so we have them agreeing here. They disagree when they talk about how its easy for students and takes less time than studying, while the teachers claim they lose sleep and trust and is more difficult for them in the long run. An assumption that I can make after reading “A Classroom Where No One Cheats” is that teachers will never be able to fully stop cheaters. There will always be cheaters, there will always be problems with cheaters.
For project 2 i plan on choosing academic integrity. This topic appeals to me because cheating in high school or college happens everyday. Loads of people see cheaters in action but refuses to say anything. Cheating in higher education is a very serious topic i decided to use for project 2

Last summer, a bunch of friends and i planned a trip to California. There were 7 of us and we all split the cost of gas and hotels equally. 3 days before we leave one of my friends said he couldn’t make the trip and he’s sorry. We had all of the hotels already paid for and arranged. The one bailing on the trip, lets call him Bob, wanted each of us to refund him his part that he had paid. Normally this would have been fine and i would have paid him, but 3 days before the trip is way too soon, and i don’t believe that it is fair that he would do that to the rest of us. The reason this came to happen is that Bob didn’t think he could pay rent so he bailed on the trip and expected us to pay him back. My side of the argument is right, and 5/6 other people on the trip agreed and didn’t pay, only one did ad he lives with him.
I actually have to work to pay for college so I’ll edit this when I’m off work
The audience of my PSA is going to be young college students. I would like to find something influence related like peer pressure or drug related. The average age will be about 18-24 years, the average age of the college student. For the PSA the level of education of the students may be a little more vulnerable, to the point where they would be able to be influenced. They are also middle class so that they have more money to spend on their habits. With this PSA i will approach my audience the same way a lot of drug companies do, harsh, extreme, but real. My audience has seen PSA’s similar to mine so they will have a feel for whats its about. Its will be a strong topic so the audience will have a strong opinion on it. Their prior knowledge will help understand my PSA
The Gwent Police Department in Wales decided to make a public safety commercial about teens, texting while driving. It sounds like a good idea until you watch the video. The idea of the commercial is to alert you about the dangers of texting and driving but i doubt that anybody could sit through the whole film. The girl swerves into oncoming traffic, gets into a head-on collision, then is t-boned by another car. The airbags go off, all of the girls get cut up and is extremely graphic. If they wanted this commercial to be effective then they would have left the gore out. I stopped the video after the first car hit them, i didn’t want to watch that i don’t feel like anyone else would want to either. Instead of scaring people about what would happen, the Gwent Police Department should have shown the scene up to the first crash, then had cops show up at the door of the parents home. It still would have been sad but at least i wouldn’t have that awful crash stuck in my head.
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation started a series of public service announcements, geared towards the safety of driving. The particular advertisement I’m going to speak on is about driving while tired or sleepy. The ad is a just a big billboard of someones eye that is getting ready to close. On the top lid of the eye is a car, the one supposedly being driven by the sleepy person, and on the bottom half is a dad and a son attempting to cross the street. The purpose of this PSA is to inform the audience about the danger of driving while tired. The audience is geared towards anyone who drives a car really. The PSA was made in Thailand so more geared towards Thai drivers. The only text in the billboard is “Sleepiness is stronger than you”, which is a pretty strong statement being made. This sentence makes you really think about how tired you are while operating a vehicle. The context of the PSA is that the billboard is on the highway so a lot of everyday commuters see it. There is also a big history of fatalities related to sleepy driving in Thailand. This PSA is very effective and will make me think next time about how tired i am and if i can drive or not.
As a writer would convey his message through articles or essays, Chance the Rapper does this through his music. Chance has a song named “Cocco Butter Kisses” in which he talks about how his addition to cigarettes has affected his relationship with his mom. He talks about how his his mother wouldn’t even hug him because he smelled so bad. This is considered a writing situation because the song is posted to youtube so the audience has a opportunity to comment on they’re opinion. Another point that chance made was that he would rub Cocco Butter lotion on him so that he wouldn’t smell like tobacco. He really explains his troubles throughout his song so i cannot truly explain everything he says so i put a link of the lyrics and the meaning of each verse.
