The Thai Health Promotion Foundation started a series of public service announcements, geared towards the safety of driving. The particular advertisement I’m going to speak on is about driving while tired or sleepy. The ad is a just a big billboard of someones eye that is getting ready to close. On the top lid of the eye is a car, the one supposedly being driven by the sleepy person, and on the bottom half is a dad and a son attempting to cross the street. The purpose of this PSA is to inform the audience about the danger of driving while tired. The audience is geared towards anyone who drives a car really. The PSA was made in Thailand so more geared towards Thai drivers. The only text in the billboard is “Sleepiness is stronger than you”, which is a pretty strong statement being made. This sentence makes you really think about how tired you are while operating a vehicle. The context of the PSA is that the billboard is on the highway so a lot of everyday commuters see it. There is also a big history of fatalities related to sleepy driving in Thailand. This PSA is very effective and will make me think next time about how tired i am and if i can drive or not.
