Whether its instate or out of state, credible universities will charge you a lump some if you want a degree. According to US News, the average price of tuition at the University of Chicago for the 2013-2014 school year will be $46,386. Currently, at Colorado State University, i am paying about 20k per year. Im a resident of Fort Collins so i could obviously go to Community College and get the same degree but I chose a place ten times expensive; why. If you were a manager at Anheuser Bushch would hire the mechanical engineer major from Front Range Community College, or the one from Colorado State University. CSU because it is a credited college. So what are the positives of high tuition? You have a nice campus, newly renovated buildings, and more credible teachers. But what are the negatives? Less students will attend because of funding, more students will attend community colleges, the class sizes will be 200+ in universities and much more. College is the new high school, meaning you cant do much with a high school degree, you’ll have to get a Bachelors degree for any job hopes. According to Dylan Mathews of the Washington post, University rates are increasing because of the schools spending habits are raising as well. Take CSU for example; They want to build a new stadium in town which will cost millions of dollars causing the tuition prices to increase. Mathews doesn’t take either side, he believe that the cost has to rise in order for better education to be completed successfully, but that also not a lot of students will have access to the same quality of education. I will agree with Mathews due to career fields advancing with new technology and information, the cost has to go up.
